BOOK REVIEW: "Bentwhistle The Dragon In A Chilling Revelation" by Paul Cude
In this exciting sequel to Bentwhistle the Dragon in A Threat From the Past, readers will see it start out much as its predecessor did, with a history lesson on how dragons changed the course of man's history.
We then go to the present, with Peter recovering from his injuries and currently out of the loop with his friends...especially Richie!
He again has to play hero when the king needs then to aid in the rescue of a dragon agent missing in Antarctica, but things do go as smoothly as they should with mantras gone horribly wrong and forbidden love abounding in their midst.
And, of course, the are sports mentioned fairly frequently as well. Some may not care fir that, but I, as a former sports-woman, enjoy it.
With everyone a little more grown up and the stakes much higher, this version of Bentwhistle is a little more mature than the last and I think that that adds to its appeal. YA readers will still lap it up, but now some parents will also be able to get in on the high-flying action and sweet emotions in Mr. Cude's excellent sophomore novel.
The feelings between Peter and Richie are very realistic in a book where most everything else is complete fiction, and I think that that is this book's very best feature and it shows the author's talent range quite well.
5/5--great read for all ages!
