BOOK REVIEW: "Guardian of the Light" by D. Thrush
It begins with a dream. Holly finds herself on a dangerous and transformative journey after Jack abruptly leaves her. Through dreams and visions, she begins to view parallel places that exist beyond time and the physical world. She soon realizes that she must choose between a beautiful place of light where she meets her family from a past life that ended tragically and a seductive man in a place of deep darkness who offers her unlimited power that demands a great sacrifice. She wonders if she's fallen through a crack in reality as she struggles to overcome the darkness within and find clarity and freedom. Where does the dream end and reality begin?
Guardian Of The Light (above is the description on Amazon) is a beautiful and original novel that, thus far, has been indefinable. After reading it, I think I'd call it "romantic fantasy" or even "speculative fiction". But, whatever you want to call it, I call it a wonderful experience of the senses!
Holly is a wonderful, relatable character with real emotions readers of any age will be able to understand and sympathize with. I liked her from page one, as she reminded me of a mixture of my mother and myself.
The story was a page-turner, but it was also one that you will want to savor and read slowly over a couple of nights with a cup of hot chocolate in your hand.
It's beautiful, mysterious and enchanting. A must-read!
5/5--beautiful!
