BOOK REVIEW: "Letters To My Ex-girlfriends" by Tobias J. Samuels

I’m sure after every relationship you may have wondered “Why am I an ex?” Well, in this novel you may find out why. Meet Adam, a thirty something man who looks back on his dating life with the numerous women he has dated and the outcome of each. Like … There are just some women that a man should not become intimate with. Ericka was a blonde bombshell, 34-24-36, pretty blue eyes, and a soft almost childlike voice. Looking back, I should have known she was a basket case; she was the basket the crazies and nut jobs go into … Having Tanisha in my life made me believe that I could do anything. I wasn't just her boyfriend; I was her number one fan ... That day, my world came crashing down with those words, written in my beloved’s handwriting. After placing the letter down, a song I heard on the radio jogged to the front of my mind, “When a woman is fed up, there’s nothing you can do about it.” I was crushed and alone ...

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

In the age of self-publishing and with the ease at which anyone can be an "author", there are bound to be those great books that unfortunately get overlooked amongst the prettier, smuttier stories that take over Amazon's homepage.
Letters To My Ex-girlfriends is one of those diamonds in the rough. It is written by a man, from a man's point of view. Now, Nicholas Sparks often writes from a man's POV in a clean romance novel, but his writing has always been a bit unrealistic to me. Men don't talk or think like that, even the kindest of them. In Mr. Samuels' book, we meet Adam, who really is a typical guy, with a typical guy's feelings and ways with dealing with his emotions.
The book is written honestly, simplistically and sweetly. There are no sugary embellishments, no unnecessary emotions and no flowery speeches. It is one man's misadventures in love, period. While that sounds boring, I assure you that it isn't. It's intriguing, and kept me reading all night, even though this is not the type of book I would actually buy for myself.
I loved reading this. It was short, sweet and honest. There might be very few reviews out there online for it, and very little press, but don't let that deter you. This is truly a gem with very few faults.

4.5/5--fun and sweet!
