BOOK REVIEW: "Revealing The Revolution" by N.M. Sotzek
In the tenth year of the newest athletic craze, the Canadian Scanning Tournament, team Revolution is set to become the National Champion. As the team struggles to mend the divides quickly enveloping them, one team-mate has more than just the responsibility of winning. He must keep a dangerous secret while protecting his team from others in the Underground. Things slowly slip out of control as sabotage threatens Revolution’s chance of winning the tournament, their career in the CST, and the revealing of a secret which will change Scanning and the multibillion-dollar company that created it. Forever.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
All I can really say about Revealing The Revolution is wow, what fun! This is a book that does have some underlying subplots and deeper meanings, but on top of it all, this book was fun to read. It reminded me of when I was a young adult a decade ago and I read simply for fun, not thinking about hidden messages or metaphors in a book's plot.
I always read other reviews of books before I agree to review them, and in more than a few I saw people mention Pokemon as a similar storyline, and I wondered how that could be. Well, it could be. While the animals in RTR are robotic and not supplied with superpowers, there is a very similar vibe between this book and animes like Pokemon and Digimon. (Especially Digimon, one of my childhood favorites.)
Like I said, I could go on about this futuristic world and its ideology, but I think I'll leave that to others who run literary blogs. This is, for all intents and purposes, a book blog and books are not always for educational purposes. Sometimes, they're for fun, and that's exactly what this book was: fun!
I definitely recommend this; an awesome sci-fi read!
4/5--So much fun!
