BOOK SPOTLIGHT: "The Franciscan" by WR Park
*I was originally given a copy of this novel for review. As I do not post negative reviews on this blog (to promote positivity in general, but especially in the indie author game), I changed this post to a spotlight.*
The most internationally anticipated religious suspense-thriller since Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code. The author of thirteen novels, WR.PARK’s intriguing novel, The Franciscan, was written 14 years ago, eerily forebodes current events in the Vatican with the current Pope Francis and proves to be a timely novel more than a decade after it was penned. “The pope is not infallible.” When WR.PARK’s newly elected fictitious Pope Francis utters this bold and unprecedented statement, he captures the attention of the world’s population. His reforms leave no corner untouched as he strips away the mask so long held before the face of the papacy. Bringing with him and open-minded candor rarely seen by public figures—he’s an inspiration to his followers—and a threat to those within the Vatican who oppose him. The Franciscan begins with a tale of Vatican intrigue and corruption, assassination attempted, murder and suicide that plague the new pope. A powerful evil and corrupt cardinal—plus sweeping reforms—place his life in grave danger. “The more I investigated/researched my Catholic heritage/faith—the more enthusiastic I became about writing and completing The Franciscan. I truly believe there’s a profound message lurking between the pages of this book,” admitted author WR.PARK. “The Franciscan, the first novel in The Franciscan Trilogy featuring the first Pope Francis is about murder, suicide, extortion, assassins, devilish plots with a narrative with more twists and turns than a ride through purgatory.”--Publisher’s Auxiliary New York Times bestselling author James Rollins commented on WR.PARK's thirteen novel body of work: "I've been a fan of WR.PARK's work for years."
