I am always in search of something new to put up on KSR. INK is definitely a new idea. Similar to Word Processor of the Gods by Stephen King, its chief paranormal element comes from a medium of art that can make creative ideas come to fruition.
The characters are both very three-dimensional with real issues and dark pasts that the reader slowly learns about as the story goes on. I like Brian better than I like A.J., because somehow he seems very believable, a victim of the insane world we now live in.
The story is incomplete, leaving hope that there is another book after this one to fill in the blanks and give us another taste of these very unique storytellers' styles. For having two writers, this book flowed very smoothly. Too often when you get co-writers the story can be seen in two parts as you can clearly see two different writing styles trying and somehow failing to merge. Here it is very clean and smooth; easy to read.
I think that, when I received the review request, I thought that it might be a bit more violent and horrific than it was. I was expecting more bloodshed than I got, and more romance than I would have expected.
I also would have liked a more complete factual detailing. While I am glad it leaves things to be desired for the next book, it also felt incomplete somehow.
All-in-all, I found this to be very unique and fun to read and I would recommend it.
