BOOK REVIEW: "One Last Wish" by Nicole Belanger

Time is never on our side. It’s always selfishly working against us. When Sarah went missing, time slipped by with the blink of an eye, and the faster it passed, the faster I lost hope. Hope that she’d still be alive. Hope that she would come home safely. And it wasn’t until Officer Reed Parker knocked on my door that I thought it was finally over. But it’ll never be over. They found her body. She’s dead. But who took her? Who killed her? Was it the same set of eyes that stalked me in the night, lurking behind corners, between cars, and waiting? For what? To take me, next? When the people I love most start slipping away from me, fingers start pointing in different directions and I wonder who I can truly trust. That’s the thing about time, it’s infinite, but eventually you run out of it.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Most books categorized as women's fiction, even suspense novels, really just don't do it for me. They don't. One Last Wish, however, is a thrilling tale that kept my rapidly turning Kindle pages as I hurried to see what would happen next.
Some moments went by a it slow for my tastes, but aside from that, I couldn't get enough of this book. It immerses you in its fear, its paranoia, and it takes you in just as the killer takes in their victims. It is more of a plot-driven novel than a character-driven one, which I don't get that often. I love those types of novels, because the near anonymity of the characters gives the reader so much more to think about.
Ms. Belanger is one of the most talented young writers to come out of my generation, and I am so glad to have discovered her work when her first novel was released.

5/5--gripping!
