BOOK REVIEW: "Nyntahls: They're in your house..." by Paulette D. Morrissey
Thirteen year old Jack never dreamed that cleaning out the attic would uncover a twenty year old unsolved family mystery. As Jack, his friends and Grandfather dig a little deeper into this mystery, they uncover more, old mysteries, some unsolved for almost 70 years! Are they all related? And what does any of it have to do with Jack’s grandfather suddenly disappearing? Even more unbelievable is the journey he has to take into another dimension to help bring his grandfather home and get his life back to something close to normal.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I rarely review middle grade books lately, as I just really don't get a lot of requests for them. Reading this book reminded me why I love this genre. Ms. Morrissey created here a truly wondrous story that only children could be able to fear and comprehend. I enjoyed this very much. There was a lot of mystery and a lot of inventive writing you don't often see in kids' fiction.
There were a few mistakes, but I don't think anyone will mind. Her writing does not dumb things down for kids; this is a book for summer vacation, a book to savor and enjoy. To giggle at and to gasp at. If you have a child who doesn't like to read, give them this book! This is the book that will get the next generation of kids loving to read!
5/5--middle grade fiction for all ages!
