BOOK REVIEW: "Through His Lens" by Anna Bayes (18+)
Newly divorced and rediscovering her place in the world, Fiona found a strange solace in taking photos of herself. Next step: she hired a professional photographer to take her portraits. Modelling for him felt empowering. Would this be only a one-time thing or would she have the courage to pursue a relationship with Nathan, the photographer whose green eyes captivate and disarm her?
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
For a book that is less than fifty pages, I was surprised at the depth of the characters. Usually novellas are story first, character development second. Ms. Bayes did it backwards, and I can't say I minded. Fiona is a good character, rediscovering herself and her beauty through modeling.
It was when she goes to pursue Nathan, her photographer, that the story goes downhill. The erotic elements are stilted and very basic. There was nothing inventive to separate this book from any others.
While it was a good story, for what I got, I am glad I didn't may the $4.99 purchase price. It is a bit high for such a short book. This needed more length and more heart to be truly worth it.
3/5--good, but needed work.
Purchase Through His Lens via Amazon.
