Anna Romano had the picture perfect life. As a brilliant high school student and talented artist with a supportive family, she couldn't imagine her life being any better. Her days are spent fantasizing about finishing high school, and dreaming of a future with her loving boyfriend.

Ryan Jacobs had his life figured out. He was enlisting in the Navy, and his high school sweetheart was applying to art school. Just a few more months and the life they'd planned together would become a reality.

On a cold February day, tragedy struck and flipped Anna's life upside down. The bright and colorful world she once lived in turned to gray. Retreating into herself, she pushed Ryan away. She pushed everyone away. Then she ran.

Ryan was lost without Anna, but truthfully, she had been gone long before she even left. He did the only thing he could do, he went on with his life. Years later, the last thing he expected was to bump into her more than two thousand miles from home.

Love, pain, distance, and secrets.

Would their challenges tear them apart?

Or was their love strong enough to mend them forever?

*Here Without You is a standalone romance with a trigger warning. A mass shooting takes place in the prologue and is referenced periodically throughout the book.

RELEASE BOOST + GIVEAWAY: "Autumn" by Cole McCade

Title: Autumn
Series: Crow City #2.75
Author: Cole McCade
Genre: Dark Erotica/Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 27, 2017

Blurb

There are worse things in life than loving a man who hates you.

Unfortunately, Walford Gallifrey can’t think of many.

Ever since a ghost from his past kidnapped his niece, Willow (THE FOUND, Crow City #2), Wally’s life has been nothing but grief, turmoil, and loss. With no idea if Willow is dead or alive, Wally’s only comfort is in caring for his grieving brother-in-law and Willow’s father, Joseph Armitage. For the past twenty years, Wally has never hoped to be anything but the backdrop to Joseph’s life; between marrying Wally’s sister and decades of mistakes building walls of enmity and resentment between them, Joseph has been firmly cemented in Wally’s mind as unattainable.

But the pain of Willow’s loss forces them to face the demons sleeping between them, find common ground—and more. Together, they explore mutual grief. Shared memories. Quiet respect. Warmth. Camaraderie. The joy of learning to live again.

And an unspoken attraction, buried beneath the scars of hurtful words and terrible missteps.

Yet even as they work through the thorns and tangles of old wounds, Joseph has his own struggles to face. The struggle to leave his ex-wife in the past. To let his daughter go. And to trust Wally to love him, to see him as more than just his multiple sclerosis, when so many have treated him as less than a man. The only way forward for them both is forgiveness. Trust.

And a second chance to discover what it means, to truly be in love.

Note: This novel, while a standalone, follows in the aftermath of the events of THE FOUND (Crow City #2), and ties in to the events of THE SAVED (Crow City #2.5), which detail--respectively--the events of Willow's kidnapping and Walford’s prior relationship with her kidnapper, Vincent Manion.

He also writes genre-bending science fiction and fantasy tinged with a touch of horror and flavored by the influences of his multiethnic, multicultural, multilingual background as Xen Sanders. He wavers between calling himself bisexual and calling himself queer, but no matter what word he uses he’s a staunch advocate of LGBTQIA and POC representation and visibility in genre fiction. NEW RELEASE: "Protected Heart (Queens of Kings Book 3)" by La Quette

Protected-Heart-3-ebook.jpgProtected Heart: Queens of Kings: Book 3
by LaQuette
Publisher: Hot Ink Press
Release Date: June 25, 2015
Blurb:
When trust becomes a matter of life or death…
Heart Searlington, captain of the seventy-fourth precinct in Brooklyn, New York, has everything she could ever want. The sexy as sin husband, the perfect house, and the perfect addition to their family, four-month-old Amare.
But when a senseless act of violence threatens the lives of two people she loves, Heart does what comes natural to her…she protects what’s hers.
Kenneth Searlington, billionaire real estate tycoon, is living the ultimate dream—family, friends, and wealth. Life couldn’t be more perfect, until trusting the wrong friend puts his life on the line.
When he can’t trust friends or family, Kenneth takes matters into his own hands. Who should Kenneth trust? The wife who lied, or the friend and family who betrayed him? Maybe the only person he can trust is himself? When protecting the heart she loves forces Heart to omit certain truths about herself and those she loves, can Kenneth see past her betrayal long enough for her to keep him alive? Blog Tour Banner Excerpt: The subtle touch of fingers so familiar to his skin he could confuse it for his own grazed the slick skin of his shoulder until it slid down his back as smoothly as the droplets of water raining down on him. “You okay?” she asked softly into his ear. “I was afraid today was too much for you. You’ve only been back home a handful of days.” He nodded his head, eyes still closed to the streaming water saturating the thick strands of his hair. He felt her hand crawl back up the length of his back, the movement making the muscles that rested just beneath her digits twitch in anticipation. Heart was right, he had returned from the hospital several days before, but in that time the two of them had barely spent any alone time together. They’d both been physically present, and usually that was all it took to stoke the embers that always seemed to be on a low simmer just waiting for an excuse to fan the flames to full blaze. But since his release there had been something there, something that was keeping them from being them. Kenneth turned his head slightly toward the sound of her voice. He opened his eyes just enough to see the water-sprinkled vision of her standing to the side of him. He pulled her into his embrace and pinned her back against the wall between his outstretched arms. There was nothing like the sight of his wife naked and waiting for him. No matter how difficult things were between them they’d always had this. It baffled him that he’d allowed whatever this was between them to fester to the point where he hadn’t touched his wife in days. The knowledge that she’d kept something so important from him fucked with his head in a way he hadn’t anticipated. Truth was he really hadn’t even given serious thought as to why her omission of the facts about Bryan and Justice impacted him so much. But to deny himself this, this connection, this reassurance that his world was grounded, that they were whole, what the fuck was he thinking? He positioned her directly under the spray of water and watched the fullness of her hair flatten against her scalp and back. She would bitch at him later about having to go to the hairdresser, but the thought of that conversation alone was pulling up the corners of his mouth into a wicked smile. He allowed his fingers to rest at the base of her head, fingers caressing her nape in just the right way to make her fall into his touch. His heart tightened slightly. They’d been stressed and their connection strained, but underneath all the bullshit, it was still there and he was grateful for it. Their connection is what kept his soul intact, what kept him sane enough to deal with the rest of his life when dealing with the craziness that wealth brought. “We have a lot to discuss, Heart.” “Kenneth I—” He leaned down and pressed a hard kiss to stop whatever it was she was about to say. Words weren’t what they needed now. He giggled to himself. If their shrink could hear his thoughts she’d be jumping up and down screaming her opposition to his line of thinking. Kenneth wasn’t against therapy. It had definitely worked to get the two of them back on track, and he definitely wanted them to sign up for a session or two after this latest fiasco, but this wasn’t something that needed fixing. This was the one way that their communication was perfect and they were absolutely in sync. He plunged his tongue inside the warmth of her mouth and savored the sweet hint of apple juice that danced on his taste buds. He pulled back just a moment to give them each a chance to breathe. “I’m not avoiding the conversation we need to have, and as soon as we’re finished in here we’re going to throw on some clothes and go downstairs in the kitchen and hash this shit out over a cup of coffee. But right now, I just need to feel my wife.” Head shot Author Bio Amazon: http://smarturl.it/LaQuetteonAmazon Facebook: Http://www.Facebook.com/LaQuetteTheAuthor Twitter: @LaQuetteLikes Website: http://www.LaQuetteLikes.com 2015 Georgia Romance Writers Maggie Award Finalist in Erotic Romance, LaQuette, a native of Brooklyn, New York, spends her time catering to her three distinct personalities: Wife, Mother, and Educator.

Excerpt:
“If you want me, if you want this, then you have to tell me. And it has to be now.” I looked at her wrist. The bracelet she knew I liked was wrapped around her delicate skin; it was the one I had once asked her to wear. She had worn it today and that told me everything I needed to know. “Because Frankie, I don’t believe you really want things between us to end.” Her cheeks darkened and her pupils began to dilate with need. “If you tell me you don’t want me, I’ll…” She had to know I would respect her despite what I wanted. “…I’ll put you down and I’ll leave your condo. What happened between us won’t affect what we have professionally. I promise. But if you want me, then—”

My Review:
In part three of Marni Mann's steamy five-part novella series, we get a lot of things cleared up that were left hanging in part two, while there are more things left at the end of this one that will drive you crazy till episode four is released.
Frankie and Derek get more of their hearts revealed, not just to each other but to the readers. We learn about why they fear the love and lust forming between them, and what they believe is at stake...and it's not a building contract.
We see more of Hayden, Derek's sister, and we do find out why Frankie doesn't like her. We also see more of Frankie's sleazy ex (unfortunately), and it gives this story the depth that a lot of erotica shorts don't have.
While, as the story goes on, I think it might've been a better option to release all five parts as one novel, I think having to wait a couple of months between novellas creates a certain sense of joy inside of us when the next book is finally released.
Book three is definitely the sexiest of them so far, and reading it will leave you breathless! There is no denying that Marni Mann is a force to be reckoned with in the erotic romance genre, and she is also a master at giving us "feels". We live Frankie's life, inside her mind and her heart. We fall in love with Derek as we learn how deep his feelings really go. And it's all because Ms. Mann made a wonderful world for us to escape to.

5/5--it just gets better!

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: SM Spencer

"DESTINY" from SM Spencer's All Shadows Trilogy will be FREE on Amazon from April 13th through the 18th! Link to her Amazon page is below!

1. When/why did you decide to become a writer?

I think the desire to be a writer started in my teens. I read a lot and would often get caught up in the characters, living their stories long after I’d finished the books. I had a great deal of respect for authors that could do that, and I wanted to be like them.

2. What authors inspired you when you were younger? What books do you enjoy reading today?

Daphne du Maurier, Mary Stewart, J.R.R. Tolkien and Ray Bradbury were among my favourite authors when I was young.
I go through various genre moods. I devoured Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia (didn’t everyone?) but also enjoy finding an author with a continuing series, like Patricia Cornwell, John Lescroart and Janet Evanovich. I particularly enjoy a good mystery/thriller with a romantic element.
At this very moment I’m reading fellow indie authors, from both the Rave Reviews Book Club (RRBC) and indieBRAG Medallion.

3. What was the inspiration behind the Absent Shadows Trilogy?

I was working around the corner from Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Markets, up near the Flagstaff Gardens. Walking around at lunchtime, I started sensing that I was smack dab in the middle of the perfect setting for ghosts and vampires—and the story just developed from there.
Of course, the late night ghost tours I’d done in the area, where I’d learned the history of the cemetery under the market’s carpark and about ghost sightings all throughout the area, really helped. And like many, I was caught up in the resurgence in popularity of vampires.

4. Will we ever see these characters again in the future?

Probably—the continuing story is bubbling away in my mind, and when it’s ready, it’ll surface.

5. You grew up in San Francisco but live in Australia. Has your location influenced your writing at all?

I think everyone’s writing is influenced by their surroundings and their perceptions of their environment.
Writing Lili in the first person was easy for me because in some ways she was living what I’d done. I think it would be pretty difficult for someone to write a story set in Australia if they didn’t live here.

6. Were any of the characters personalities or emotions taken from real life?

Aspects of the characters were inspired by people I’ve known, but none are meant to be anyone in particular.

7. What other genres would you like to try your hand at?

I’d like to have a go at a rural romance and also science fiction (the thought provoking eerie sort).

8. If you could trade places with one of your characters, who would it be and why?

Crystal. I loved writing her. She is caring, and beautiful, and gentle and all things feminine. But at the same time, she is strong and powerful, and not to be messed with. She is Aphrodite and Athena wrapped up in one awesome little package.

9. What is it about vampires that made you decide to use them as your "main creature"?

Mostly, I think it’s a bit of that beauty and the beast thing—seeing through the horrible exterior to the goodness that dwells deep inside. You have this hero who is handsome and charming, but also deadly, dark and powerful. And the heroine sees all sides of him and falls in love with him.

10. Would you like to see the Trilogy as films? If yes, who do you want to see play your characters?

Of course! Abigail Breslin would make a lovely Lili and perhaps Liam Hemsworth would make a charming Sam. But without a doubt I would pick Lucy Liu for Crystal.

11. Where do you see yourself and your career in the next ten years?

I love where I am right now. It’s taken me a lot of years to get here, and I’m savoring the ability to progress my journey toward becoming a better writer. I hope to continue with my writing, as well as encouraging and supporting other indie authors.

12. What would you be doing if you weren't writing?

Gathering inspiration so I could start writing again.

13. Can you tell KSR what you're working on next?

I’m currently working on a rural romance, but I’ve also got a science fiction story that’s been writing itself for a few years. And of course, the continuation of Absent Shadows—those characters are very much alive and their on-going story is constantly building.

14. What authors, dead or alive, would you like to collaborate with?

Oh, this is really hard. As already mentioned, I have the utmost respect for the creative skills of the late authors Ray Bradbury, Daphne du Maurier and J.R.R. Tolkien. If meeting with them meant that even the smallest portion of their talent rubbed off onto me, I’d be thrilled.

15. Thank you for participating in the interview. Can you please leave the readers with three things that may surprise them about you?

Growing up, my favourite TV shows were Dark Shadows, The Twilight Zone and Outer Limits. I loved all things paranormal, and one side of me truly regrets not doing a degree in parapsychology.
My favourite food, and the one I’d chose if I could only have one for the rest of my life—tortilla chips (or as we say here in Australia, corn chips)! And a bit of salsa on the side, please.
My favourite sound—a kitten purring. There is, quite simply, nothing better. Well, perhaps there is one better sound … the soft uttering of the words ‘thank you’. And I’d like to say them to you, Kelly, for providing this wonderful opportunity for me to connect with you and your followers.

BOOK REVIEW: "Heartbreak Hotel" by Deborah Moggach

When retired actor Buffy decides to leave London and move to rural Wales, he has no idea what he is letting himself in for.
In possession of a run-down bed and breakfast that leans more toward the shabby than the chic and is, quite literally, miles from nowhere, Buffy realizes that he needs to fill the beds—and fast. Otherwise, his vision of the pastoral countryside will go up in smoke.
Enter a motley collection of guests: Harold, whose wife has run off with a younger woman; Amy, who’s been unexpectedly dumped by her (not-so) nebbishy boyfriend and Andy, the hypochondriac postman whose girlfriend is much too much for him to handle. But under Buffy’s watchful eye, this disparate group of strangers finds that they have more in common than perhaps they first thought.

I was given an ARC of Heartbreak Hotel from the publisher for an honest review.

I am one of the few people who didn't go see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in theaters, though I did read the book when it first came out. So I knew to expect a motley crew of characters in a beautiful setting with a lot of snarkiness.
That's exactly what I got and more.
The book reminds me a little of a naughtier Maeve Binchy tale: a wide array of characters, a lovely UK setting and an instantly recognisable voice in the narration. You know immediately upon opening any of her books that yes, you're reading Deborah Moggach.
The story centers around an old actor (I kept picturing Ian McKellen) who inherits a B&B from a dear friend who passed away. While he seems cavalier on the outside, the reader knows of his insecurities and his regrets. They know of his hopes and his woes.
The other characters are fun, confused, hurt, and hopeful, and each of them are wonderfully written. As I read, I wanted to visit the hotel, meet Voda and India (Voda is my favorite character) and have some wine with Buffy and his guests.
I didn't feel like I was reading a fictional book, I felt like I was an intruder on these people's very real lives. That's a rare skill, especially considering the vast cast that's here in the novel, but Mrs. Moggach pulls it off quite well.
I am now officially a fan. Get this on your TBR list ASAP!

5/5--a wonderful read to cozy up with a blanket, cat and glass of wine!

BOOK REVIEW: "When Implausible Events Occur" by Lucia Morosanu

Love...what is it all about? Nobody really knows, but everybody has an opinion and a story. And this is the story of a boy named Alex and a girl named Diana and how a series of highly implausible events changed their relationship forever: and made for an interesting self-discovery journey.

Love is a very simple thing that often gets complicated. This story is about a couple who went from loving each other to being indifferent to the other's presence without realizing it happened.
It happens often, and it's usually the reason for divorce and infidelity, but rarely do you get a fictionalized inside look at a relationship gone...dull.
Each character is relatable depending on your mentality. Alex is tired of being simply there for Die, and Die is just too complacent for her own good.
A tale like this runs the risk of being boring, simply a psychologist's report from marriage counseling, but somehow this story keeps your interest from page one. It's not too long, not overly emotional and very real.
I liked reading it and I think others will, too.

4/5--a nice read!

Excerpt:
“Why don’t you come in?”
I was startled again by the sound of him, of his deep, alluring tone. I didn’t realize I was still hovering in the doorway. Closing most of the gap between us, I moved to one of the chairs.
I hooked my bag onto the back of it, his fingers slicing through the air as they reached for mine.
“Call me Derek.” He enclosed my hand with a pressing strength that I assumed was lightened for my benefit.
Though his stare remained on my face, I wasn’t able to keep mine on his. I needed a break, a second to get myself under control.
Control…
I had obviously lost that, though I didn’t understand why. Polished men were all I knew, all I had ever been attracted to: groomed and well-dressed, pretty and sharp, even cocky and somewhat selfish. They were certainly never burly or animalistic like Derek. So why was he having this kind of physical effect on me?

MY REVIEW:

In this story that barely took me one breathless hour to read, we meet a strong, self-assured woman named Frankie Jordan who wants a job with Derek Block, a premier real estate developer. But when she meets him, that's not all she wants!
This is just part one of a sexy tale that leaves you begging for more. And it's not just because of the sex, it's because of the plot, the strong and sexy characters and the way that Ms. Mann has with words. She can talk about real estate and make the reader...well, let's call it uncomfortable, shall we?
You know that research was done to make this book have substance, not just erotic elements. As a reader, I appreciate that. And the sex is not constant, but sexual frustration is always the subtext here. You wait with bated breath to see what will happen with Frankie ans Derek (who really does seem just so hot) and then you get to an end that makes you count the days till the next installment is released.
A big plus: a strong, elegant female lead!

5/5--sexy and fun!

BLOG TOUR/BOOK REVIEW: "Treasure Darkly" by Jordan Elizabeth

Beware a Treasure Darkly…

(The stunning cover art is thanks to Amalia Chitulescu)

Seventeen-year-old Clark Treasure assumes the drink he stole off the captairead is absinthe…until the chemicals in the liquid give him the ability to awaken the dead. A great invention for creating perfect soldiers, yes, but Clark wants to live as a miner, not a slave to the army—or the deceased. On the run, Clark turns to his estranged tycoon father for help. The Treasures welcome Clark with open arms, so he jumps at the chance to help them protect their ranch against Senator Horan, a man who hates anyone more powerful than he. And he is not alone. His new found sister, Amethyst, thinks that's rather dashing, until Horan kidnaps her, and all she gets is a bullet through her heart. When Clark brings her back to life, she realizes he's more than just street-smart - and he's not really a Treasure. Amethyst’s boring summer at home has turned into an adventure on the run, chock full of intrigue, danger, love, and a mysterious boy named Clark.

TREASURE DARKLY, book 1 of the Treasure Chronicles The young adult novel is a dark mix of steampunk, the paranormal and romance in a “Wild West” setting. Below is an excerpt from TREASURE DARKLY. You can read more on the Curiosity Quills Press website.

“Looks like he did drink it up.” The general client spoke from the right. “Must’ve interacted with all that bloody hertum. Look at ‘im, he’s bleeding already.”
“What’s it gonna do to him?” the guard from the morning asked.
“Lots of stuff.” The general laughed. “When he touches the dead, he’ll be able to bring them back, and exchange that life for another. Perfect soldier, huh? We only have one vial ready and I was going to give it to a lucky fellow. Guess it will be this boy.”
“Whatcha gonna do with him?” The guard snickered.
“Have to be a test subject,” the general said. “Sure thought it was that Judy who stole my bottle. Pity I killed her. She sure knew how to make my pecker sing.”
Judy. Clark’s mother. Clark bolted off the ground and ran. He could hide in the hole under the shed behind the brothel. Mable never found him under there. He might be cursed with raising the dead—he’d already done that to the poor mine worker—but it didn’t mean he’d let them take him for tests.

My Review:

Have you ever wondered what would happen if SM Reine and the creators behind Pushing Daisies decided to make a steampunk western? No? Neither did I! But I found out after reading this book.
It's an odd thing, at first, because the paranormal elements usually don't mix with steampunk styles, but this book does it well. There are twists and turns throughout the entire book, making you pause, look and say, "what the Hell?" It's not a typical story in any way possible, but it's not so unique that you won't be able to follow it.
The characters are great: especially Amethyst, because she's a character you want to slap at first, especially during her first scene. She's a pampered princess, but when things go sour for her she really steps up.
Clark is a troubled boy with regrets, doubts and a lot of grief. His mother's a prostitute who gets murdered, and the people he thinks are family aren't, not at all. He's also in deep trouble with the army, and has to try and work out these unearthly powers at a very young age. He's inspirational to teens reading this.
At the top of this tower of themes and emotions you have socio-political issues, with senators and military men trying to control those beneath them. It's a ery interesting little twist to things.
All in all, while I'm still not a huge steampunk genre, I really liked this book and it's making me want to delve deeper into it!

4/4---a great tale all around!

:::My Review:::

In the third installment of Blakely Bennett's Bound By Your Love series, we get better acquainted with Blue, the sexy redhead with a very damaged past. And we meet Tate, one of the sexiest men I've read about. I definitely have a book crush on him!
This book might have enough sex to make a porn star blush, but it's also got a plot, an actual plot, focusing on the meaning of love and not letting your past define you and rule your life. Everyone has baggage, but that doesn't mean the baggage has to weigh you down.
Blue is one of my favorite romantic female leads, dealing with issues many girls have to and dealing well with it. She's a woman trying to help and better herself and her emotional state. Tate is a mystery, but he's one you want to figure out.
While the book, as I said, has at least one (usually more) sex scene per chapter, it's not just a smut book. It's deep, and it's an excellent read. Ms. Bennett knows how to mix sexual fantasy with harsh reality and add in a dash of psychological mystique.
Let me also add that I love the use of bondage by otherwise "normal" people. They're not deviants, killers or (very) psychologically damaged. They're not abusive like some other erotica novels I could mention. They just like things a little rough, and I love that.
This is one of the most well-written erotica novels I have had the privilege of reviewing and I certainly hope that there's more coming about these characters in the future!

5/5--love it!
