MY REVIEW:
Picking up where Hunter's Moon left off, Lisa Kessler's Blood Moon details what happens to Nadya (jaguar shifter Sasha's younger sister) after she's infected by Nero's Lycan Project serum, and turned into a strange hybrid of a werewolf...and given a certain death sentence by Jason, the Pack doctor.
But Jason is determined to try and save her, so he hires a doctor who has his own agenda...
Meanwhile, Gareth is still reeling from his twin's murder and finally decides to move and get a fresh start. But, before he goes, he finds his mate...and finds out that the clock is ticking on her life and time is running out.
While Lana is still my favorite female lead in the Moon Series, Gareth is definitely my favorite werewolf! He's a leather jacket-wearing, Harley Davidson-riding badass, and I'm sure I won't be the only reader finding her new book boyfriend! He's damaged, but he's got a heart of gold and filled with love.
The emotions in this book are so raw and so real, it hits the reader like a slap to the face. I found myself in tears a couple of times. Death claims us all, but we all have a choice of how we die, what we do with the time we have left. Instead of killing herself or wallowing in self-pity, Nadya looks Death in the eye and says, "Screw you." She's an inspiring character, and her situation is relatable and meaningful.
You can tell that a lot of heart and research went into writing this, and I think that that is really what made this book so enjoyable, that you can feel how much of herself she put into the story.
There are lessons in this book, mostly live life to the fullest and have no fear. Also, let love in. Gareth learns that lesson the hard way in Blood Moon.
I loved this book and, after Beg Me To Slay, this is Mrs. Kessler's best novel to date!
5/5--doesn't get much better than this!
